5 vocab words from chapters 22-31

I have heard people say, "don't judge a book by its cover" and things like that... but I didn't really understand or listen to the quote then. This book showed me how judging someone can be hurtful, obscure and wrong. Also if you judge like the people in To kill a Mockingbird it can make a person seem like a hypocrite. Thats not the only quote I got from the book. Another that wasn't really in the book but I think thats what Harper Lee was trying to show is, "Think before you speak." We have all been reading the book and know that Scout sometimes speaks with out thinking about what she is going to say. This is just as bad as judging someone. This book made me think about what I say or do and the way I act. Sometimes it seems to me that its inevitable to do these things, but its not you just have to sustain yourself.

This book has made me think of times that I've broken these quotes.... I tend to say things without thinking but luckily they never are bad and all but I do remember a few inconveniences that were bad. In the 7th grade I said something I shouldn't have and for a day the majority of my friends were mad at me... didn't feel so good. What I sad was a joke but sometimes even jokes can be serious. If I'd have thought before speaking my friends wouldn't of gotten mad at me. BTW: I dont blame them. Thanks to books and people that tell me or give me advice to do good things I am a good person now. I don't know what wouldv'e happened if no one told me these quotes. I kind of already knew the lessons this book was supposed to teach me, but I'm glad I read the book because it reminded me.

1.Have you learned anything from this book? If yes what?

2. Have you ever been in a situation like me? [where you judged someone without knowing or you said something without thinking]

  1. I also learned more in depth why judging a book by its cover is bad. During the trial, almost every person, judges Tom right of the back because of his race. That is wrong on so many different levels. Because these people judged Tom on his race, he is facing a lifetime in prison for something that he didn't even do.
