Perspective of Uncle Jack


Dear Diary,

I expected diffrent from this visit. I come, and scout has a new vocabulary... why is she so fanatical about saying hell and damn, and where did she get the word whore lady. Scout if she hadn't said that word to Francis, I wouldn't of licked her - but since she did she was asking for it.
Oh scout, I didn't mean to hurt you.. If she had been acquainted by Jem at that moment, he would've stopped her. But no she had to be alone, and since it was an offense to Atticus she smacked the boy right in his face. After hearing Scouts side of the story I realized Francis
was the one who deserved to be beaten, but I just jumped to the conclusion that it was her fault. Alessandras grandson has a bad side and its time he learned a lesson, I believe scout. I am still debating however who's side makes the most point.... scout should've ignored Francis
and told me and also she shouldv'e called him a whore lady, but Francis
had absolute no right to say what he said too.

If I tell Atticus why Scout smacked Francis, atticus might be upset with her after what he told her to do if she heard anyone talking bad about him. Scout has had a rough time, she was isolated at Alessandra's I hope nothing worse happens to her.. Poor child how'll she survive school. Should I talk to Atticus when Scout is eavesdropping and tell him to quit on the case, and leave the Tom man. Its going to cost him more than just convince the judge and jury, his family too[most importantly] and also the town people. I think Atticus is adjacant enoguh to even risk his life in Maycomb by defending Tom... but Atticus says that Mr.Taylor pointed to him and said this job was for him. I disagree I don't mean to be negative but I don't think that mans gonna win the case. The whole town seems to be against Attticus's side.

I bet the only reason he's doing the case to begin with is because Calpurnia his maid and nanny says she knows tha mans family and they are good people.... I say thats what they all say. Right now I'm on the border I don't know which side to believe, almost like when Francis and Scout fought. Oh well I think Scouts coming to me again for the 3rd time...probably going to aks me what whore lady means.... I'm going to tell her.Atticus said I shouldv'e when she first asked me.
